Digital shorts
Digital Shorts forms part of the New Cinema Fund's short film initiatives, an ambitious programme of research and development of talent providing opportunities for filmmakers at every level.
The Digital Shorts 2008 -2010 scheme is now open for managing organisation applications. All applications must be received by 18.00hrs on 14 July 2008.
The UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund has allocated £560,000 a year of National Lottery funding to continue the Digital Shorts scheme for a further two years. Through the Digital Shorts scheme the UK Film Council plans to support the production of a minimum of 56 low-budget short films per year working with new and emerging talent from across the whole of the UK.
This call for applications is aimed at companies and organisations who would like to manage the scheme and develop a programme for the production of short films from each of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the nine English regions of the UK.
In addition, in order to ensure that the Digital Shorts scheme actively champions and celebrates the diversity of filmmakers and audiences for film in the UK, UK Film Council is looking for:
- a company or organisation to work on a UK-wide basis to develop a programme to make films with filmmakers from black and minority ethnic groups; and
- a company or organisation to work on a UK-wide basis to develop a programme to make films with disabled filmmakers. (Please note there are separate requirements for applications to this programme).
The UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund will offer a total of 14 awards of £40,000 a year for up to two years.
In recognition of the substantial outreach activities required for the two UK-wide programmes the UK Film Council will make available additional Grant-in-Aid funding of £17,000 for each of these programmes.
To apply to manage one of the 14 Digital Shorts schemes you will need to visit guidelines and application form.
