International Festival Fund: Sales Support Scheme – summary of terms

Through the International Festival Fund Sales Support (IFFSS) we award grants to sales companies to help them promote and market UK films that have been selected for the official programmes of key international film festivals.  Grants are provided to allow subtitled film prints to be produced or to support the press and promotional campaign and meet talent travel costs.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for IFFSS, a film must:

  • Qualify as British under the cultural test or be certified as a UK majority 35% co-production;
  • Be represented by a sales agent at the festival for which IFFSS is applied for (see Appendix 1 of Terms & Conditions);
  • Be selected for an eligible official section of the festival for which support is sought for (see Appendix 1 of Terms & Conditions);
  • Have had its official festival selection confirmed in writing by the festival concerned (please provide evidence of this as part of the application);
  • Have a production budget of no more than £6 million (applicants may be requested to provide documents evidencing this);
  • Have a minimum duration of 70 minutes (with the exception of a children's film, which should be no shorter than 63 minutes).

Application

  • All applications must be made online;
  • All applications must include a completed Financial Summary form;
  • Applications must be made by the producer the Sales Agent representing the film, for one of the eligible festivals (grants are made to Sales Agents – see Terms & Conditions);

Eligible items

  • Production of subtitled prints;
  • Travel and accommodation costs for the director and key talent;
  • Press campaign (including appointment of an international Public Relations Agency);
  • Marketing items (eg advertising and print items).

Requirements

  • Two signed copies of the Funding Agreement returned to the UK Film Council no later than two weeks after receipt;
  • Adherence to the payment structure listed in the guidelines and as specified in the contract;
  • The UK Film Council logo should be included on all promotional materials produced for the festival post confirmation of UK Film Council IFFSS grant;
  • The UK Film Council logo ident screened with the film print at the festival;
  • Sales Agent to supply a worldwide rights-cleared high resolution still for UK Film Council promotional use on CD Rom;
  • Sales Agent to supply four invitations to UK Film Council's Export Unit, for the main official Festival screening, associated receptions/other events and/or press conferences at the Festival;
  • Completion of the UK Film Council Post Festival Participation Form no earlier than six months and no later than nine months after the Festival's end date;
  • Sales Agent to supply a DVD of the film once available.
